Hamilton International Folk Dance Club
Established in 1984, the Hamilton International Folk Dance Club is for adults (18 years or over) who like to dance. Our purpose is to learn and enjoy dances from various cultures. This includes dances from: Armenia, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, United States, Wales and other regions.
Instruction is provided so that all participants can join in, and the emphasis is on participation rather than performance. Participants do not need a partner or previous dance experience. The only requirement is low-heeled comfortable shoes with good support for dancing.
HIFDC runs from September to June, 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church, in Hamilton's Westdale neighbourhood. See our Schedule for upcoming special events, parties, and workshops.
The fee for each Friday evening dance session is $10., $5. for students. This fee is waived on your first visit. An annual membership rate is also available. Refreshments are provided, and participants are invited to bring food for special occasions.
HIFDC is a non-profit recreational dance club, and the executive is elected by the membership. Our dance club is also a member of the Ontario Folk Dance Association.
